If I can see it, I’ll wear it.
I love walking into stores that have beautiful displays. Everything is laid out for us to see clearly. We know what to expect when we visit the jean rack or the round of thoughtfully presented sweaters.
There is a reason for all this: If you are target shopping, you will easily find these items.
In the morning, I need clear organization for target dressing: Underwear, Top, Pants, Sweatshirt, Shoes.
If I can see it, I’ll wear it.

Jeans are a huge part of my wardrobe. I love using these hooks so I can see exactly which jeans I’m looking at. Making the switch from stacked and folded to hung and folded helps me to see what I’m looking for. It also encourages me to wear more than my 2 favorite pairs because I can see variety matched up with hanging tops. It’s as close to having my outfit laid out for me as I’ll get.

Presentation Matters.
If it’s beautifully presented, I’ll feel good about putting it on.
Esthetic presentation in organization is always at the top of the list when it comes to making things functional within my home. The reason for this is because it creates a feeling of joy for me. I want my home not only to work for my lifestyle but also be warm, inviting + beautiful.
I love organizing my clothes by color because it brings beauty to order. You can make the frumpiest, coziest sweatshirts spark joy.

Sparkles also spark joy… so why not display them too?

This sunglass display was IT for me! I have a mix of cheap and moderately priced sunglasses that I used to throw in a drawer inside their cases. This way I can see what I want and it works so much better for me.

It Has to Work for You
Not the Other Way Around
I love esthetics. I love to see what I’m working with. But at the end of the day, it has to not only be beautiful + functional but also sustainable.
I love working in this order:
- See it
- Make it pretty
- Make it work
I sandwich pretty because so many times we can just from “see it” to “make it work” and then that’s not always sustainable either because there is no joy or pleasure in your space.
So what does “making it work” look like?
For me it looks like putting my least used shoes on the highest shelf, therefore, forfeiting the rainbow scheme. It looks like journals + books on shelves because I have too many reads that won’t fit on our library shelves downstairs. It also looks like a ladder leaning against the wall because I can’t reach the highest shelves.
Making it work also means hanging up family pictures to remind me why I get up and do what I do every morning. That and a sign that says, “With God, even mornings are possible” because…. mornings are HARD.
I also organize my clothes by coverage first and color second. While I love color, I start “target dressing” in the morning based on the weather. If it’s hot, I’ll want to look for a tank top and shorts. I categorize tank tops by color and then I have a section next to it for tee-shirts (also organized by color), etc. I prefer this instead of having all my tops (tanks, tees + long sleeves) as one category organized by color. This just works best for me since my priority is coverage depending on the day. The color is a secondary thought.
And finally, to be totally honest, making it work looks like a line up of my favorite deodorant because “if I see it I use it” and that’s a non-negotiable before getting dressed. #priorities
